Online training eases transition to new PAS for Moorfields

14 June 2007

When Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s new patient administration system (PAS) went live last month, 500 doctors, nurses and clinical staff had already taken online refresher training in the new system.

Given the large number of staff affected by the new system, pressure on their time, changing shift patterns and turnover of doctors as they passed through the Hospital, the Trust needed the ability to provide easily accessible, mandatory training and ongoing support.

The Trust chose software from Cambridge-headquartered Knowledge Solutions.

“Ensuring that all of our staff were completely up to speed on our upgraded PAS was obviously vital to ensuring the highest possible levels of patient care”, said Ian Mercer, Training Manager at the Trust. “Using Knowledge Solutions’ software has enabled us to deliver flexible, online training, management and ongoing support to users, tailored to their individual roles. This meant minimal disruption when we went live with this critical update.”

“Moorfields is an acknowledged world-leader in delivering specialist ophthalmic treatment”, said Adrian Palmer-Geaves, CEO of Cambridge-headquartered Knowledge Solutions. “By using Knowledge Solutions it has been able to ensure that its staff are completely prepared for its major new system going live, which has translated into a smoother changeover that benefited both staff and patients.”
