Smart alert system interprets patient’s condition
Oxford BioSignals has unveiled its BioSign ‘smart alert’ technology,
designed to deliver an integrated and unambiguous assessment of a
patient’s status.
It can be configured in a software-only format to be integrated with
existing equipment, or can form part of a combined hardware-software
package to function as a complete diagnostic monitoring system.
This integrates all the patient’s vital signs including heart rate,
respiration rate, body temperature, oxygen saturation and non-invasive
blood pressure, to generate a comprehensive picture of overall patient
status. The resulting BioSign Index can be used as a measure of the
patient’s stability and can act as an ‘early warning system’ for
deterioration.
Matthew Walls, CEO of Oxford BioSignals, says: “Traditionally medical
monitoring requires highly specialised equipment which, in turn,
requires trained users to interpret their output. BioSign differs in
that it analyses the data and provides the user with an unequivocal
evaluation of the patient’s condition.”
